This is the kind of feeling Hip Hop use to give me

Vynil-07_OriginalMusic speaks to people in many ways. Bob Marley sings: “one good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain”. An so does this Nas and Scarface track to be released on DJ Khaled’s “Kiss the ring” Album. That said its no secret hip hop has been hurting. I don’t think its fair to finger point 1 particular: person, record label, coast, or style, we just have to accept that it is a number of factors–mainly socially and culturally. Our society is beyond becoming a hybrid–in the future tense, we are living it. So there you have it. Change. Now change brings three kinds of people: visionaries who can see the future; people who just are; and those who dwell in the essence of nostalgia. I am the later.

I appreciated taking a 45 minute bus ride to Sam Goody near Lake forest Mall in Gaithersburg Maryland to by the latest EPMD album “Strictly Business”. There was a connection we had with artists. Unwrapping the CD packaging–an 18″ package complete with artwork: a bit of a Debbie-Downer because after ripping through all that box all we got was this plastic crystal laser record. Anyway I say all that to say this.

Its very rare that I hear something that conjures up the emotion of excitement, anticipation, zeal, and bone chilling speechlessness because my favorite rapper is releasing a record. That doesn’t happen too often nowadays. I can’t even keep up with the new artists let alone who is releasing what. Sometimes I am dumbfounded months later when I learn a favorite rapper of mine released his/her latest album in recent months–some cases years. I got that bone chilling excitements when I saw this video of Nas and Scarface track to be released on DJ Khaled’s “Kiss the ring” Album.

I wonder if you feel the same way…
